FAQs

What should I expect in my first therapy session?

In our first 50-minute session, we’ll meet, talk about what brings you to therapy, and discuss what you’re hoping to gain from the process. It’s also a chance to see if we feel like a good fit to work together in ongoing sessions.
Feeling comfortable is vital — the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of this work. There’s no obligation to continue afterwards unless it feels right for you. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance; just come as you are.

How long does therapy last?

I don’t work to a fixed number of sessions. Therapy is open-ended and tailored to your individual needs. We’ll work towards an ending together when you feel ready — whether that’s after a few weeks, several months, or longer-term work over years. The pace is always guided by you.

What issues do you work with — depression, anxiety, trauma, and more?

Yes. I work with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, loss, and many others. You can learn more about my background and approach on my About page.

Is online therapy confidential and secure?

Yes — your privacy is fully protected. I don’t record sessions, I work from a private space, and your personal information is stored securely in line with GDPR guidelines. You can read more about confidentiality and data protection on my Privacy page.

How much does therapy cost?

My fees are £45 for an initial session and £65 for subsequent sessions. I also offer small discounts for block bookings. Full details are available on my Pricing page.

Can I book a free consultation or introductory call first?

Yes, absolutely. I offer a free 15-minute telephone call so we can briefly talk about what you’re looking for and whether working together feels like a good fit. You can arrange this via my Contact page.

What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?

It’s understandable to feel unsure if you’ve had a disappointing experience in the past. Finding the right therapist can take time, and feeling safe and comfortable is key. When we meet, we can talk about how I work and what might feel different this time. The fact that you’re considering therapy again shows courage and a real commitment to your wellbeing.

Do you give homework or exercises between sessions?

No — that’s more common in CBT-based approaches. I don’t assign set tasks or exercises. Instead, we focus on what naturally arises in each session and on exploring your emotions and experiences at your own pace.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms like stress, pain, or sleep problems?

Yes, absolutely. Our minds and bodies are deeply connected — physical symptoms often reflect emotional stress. Through therapy, we can explore and release stored tension or trauma that may be affecting your body. Many people find that issues like pain, sleep difficulties, and stress improve as emotional wellbeing strengthens.
